Japan Pilgrimage II Day 15 - Guest Blogged by 浪迹天涯小狗
Moderate Image Warning..
Mistress's street!
Sadly, our last full day in Japan already. Time flies (like how I took 4 months to finish blogging.. :p).
Its Ghibli Museum Day finally!~ (and whatever shopping we didn't complete still..)
Had our breakfast at one of those breakfast stores in one of the stations (obviously cant rem).
Yakisoba which tastes very normal and costs us like... SGD 5? 8?
Onforth to Mitaka, where the Ghibli Museum sits.
Had to check out the information counter for directions and they actually have this map displayed prominently with a Totoro plush at their counter for lost folks to self-service themselves.
風の散歩道
Mistress saw this on the map and was keeping her eyes wide open for the signboard later on.
Headed for Starbucks(since its the only cafe nearby)to get RR's coffee fix.
Mistress always have a problem at Starbucks since she doesn't drink coffee, she always need to go for those heaty chocolatey drinks.
Not a problem anymore with Earl Grey and English Breakfast Tea Lattes!~
The table has some philosophical message within it..
Skipped the shuttle bus and took the 1km walk from Mitaka station along Tamagawa Josui "Waterworks".
A well crafted tree full of Japanese Garden flavor.
Cables cables
Star Academy.. Myojo Gakuen
Beyond this boundary and within the building, loads of statues lay.
The shuttle bus to Ghibli Museum.
No fear of getting lost once you start in the right direction.
There's quite a few of these signboards pointing to the museum along the walkway.
Finally Ghibli Museum!
A gigantic Totoro welcomes visitors from its glass enclosure.
The entrance to the museum.
Tickets have to be reserved in advance from Lawson's Tokyo.
Photography is not allowed within the premises so no chance of showing what's inside.
Included with the ticket (which is a film cap), is a screening of one of Ghibli's shows.
We had the chance to watch Mei to Konekobasu, a sequel to My Neighbour Totoro. Nice~
There's a gallery of drawings, a few rooms depicting Miyazaki Hayao, etc, studios, a playground for kids, a little bookshop, and a souvenir shop.
Headed outside for a breather after squeezing the eternally packed souvenir shop, where Mistress got a couple of items as omiages for the Ghibli-loving boss.
Mistress trying to communicate with the android robot featured in Laputa.
Haha, she simply doesn't want to do the standard tourist hugging the robot legs shot and we actually had to queue to take photos with this exhibit!
Alien message
Spot the meows?
RR actually went ∑(゚Д゚) when Mistress pointed it out to her.
This is a sewage cover!
Visitors were having fun drawing the cold cold waters.
Dustballs packed.
Strawhat restaurant~ Just not One Piece.
Unique tap. So cute!
Oinks. Very expensive menu...
Proceeded to our next spot, Nakano, the 2nd otaku heaven after Akihabara.
The relaxing walk to and fro Ghibli Museum boasts loads aesthestically and artistically interesting sights.
Finally found the signboard!!!!!
Mistress simply had to take a picture with it!
Continues strolling..
Shop that sells either pottery or antiques.
The setting sun bathes the streets with its warm glow.
Full of bonsai trees!
Oh! Spotted Totoro at work as the tourism ambassador of Mitaka, or maybe, just keeping an eye outside the information center.
Captured this from the station.
The clean rails with heating system that warms your frozen legs.
Nakano Broadway
Mandarake!
Beyond this is frantic last minute anime/manga goods grabbing for Mistress..
Settled for dinner at yet another sushi bar which are aplenty here.
This actually looks kinda ewwww~
Natto sushi, that RR tried, and gave up after 2 pieces.
Mistress refuses to try. HAHA!
Retired early to start their battle with their luggage bags and hitting the sack early for their early flight tomorrow.
